The mission of the Society for the Preservation of Culpeper  History is to acknowledge, document, and preserve the unique history of Culpeper County, Virginia.  We seek to educate future generations about the history, culture and growth of Culpeper County.  Our focus shall not be limited to one time period, culture or interest.  We believe that shared history, both physical and social, is basic to the fabric of community.  History embraces all social, cultural and ethnic groups through a series of events.  The factual presentation of these events without censorship or revision is critical to the preservation of our heritage.  To achieve this purpose, our activities shall include, but not be limited to

1.       The collection, preservation and sharing of historical information, including literary documents, record, papers, maps, pamphlets and artifacts;

2.       The preservation of cemeteries and historic structures;

3.       The education of our community about its own history through programs, publications and all available media;

4.       Serving as a clearinghouse for inquiries from all those who are interested in historical or genealogical research topics involving Culpeper County.

The Society for the Preservation of Culpeper History welcomes the ideas and participation in our quarterly History Forum, project committees, and special events of everyone with an interest in learning or sharing their knowledge about Culpeper history.  There are no membership dues.  The only requirements are a love of history, respect for others who love history, and a willingness to devote time and effort to discover and preserve our history.

The Society for the Preservation of Culpeper History is incorporated as a not for profit organization under the laws of Virginia.  SPCH has been designated as a charitable organization under the laws of Virginia and contributions are deemed tax deductible federal law.
